The upcoming Buchanan Civil War History Weekend is from April 27th to 29th. There’s free admission, and the event starts at 10am, so whether you’re looking for a fun family event or you simply want to learn more about history in the area, the Buchanan Civil War History Weekend is great for everyone.

Located in Buchanan Town, according to Visit Roanoke, the weekend will include Living History Camps where you can learn more about what life was like in during the Civil War. There’s also Sutler’s Row, a Camp Dance, a period church service, and more. You can find plenty of arts and crafts, antiques, great food, and then there’s a reenactment where you can see General McCausland and his Confederate troops battle for the Raid of the Valley.

The American Civil War is one of the most significant events in US history, and Virginia was one of the major battlegrounds for the war. Richmond served as a capital for the Confederacy for a period, and there’s an incredible array of history around the area.
